MyMaps.gov.au is an initiative of the Australian Office of Spatial Policy (OSP) which is part of the Australian Government Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism.
The MyMaps website has three components:
- MyMaps Search – the ASDD
- MyMaps Places – the Gazetteer
- MapMyData – using Mi Express from Integeo
MyMaps provides the community with web access to mapped views of their data together with information from the Gazetteer and supplementary contextual information from the Australian Spatial Data Directory (ASDD). MyMaps doesn't require the user to have any applications other than their choice of browser on their desktop. The research community is one group of users most interested in having access to these services and has provided funding to develop the Gazetteer Web Feature Service (WFS) component.
MapMyData is a joint collaboration between the Office of Spatial Policy and Integeo. Integeo’s Mi Express is the base product underpinning MapMyData.
The key aim of MapMyData is to provide a facility for non-specialist users. Provided the user data has an x and y co-ordinate MapMyData will dynamically generate not only a spatial visualisation of that data but also integrated charts with a data table display. The user can filter data based on the column names of the dataset.
